E-voting is the use of hardware and software to build an electronic system that functions in the election process, where voters' votes are digitally recorded instead of paper ballots. E-voting technology was first introduced by several e-Government agencies, particularly in Europe, as an effort to meet the need for an effective voting system and provide a control mechanism that allows voters to cast their ballots anytime and anywhere.
To prevent various forms of data breaches and damage that are crucial to the election process, the implementation of a data security system using cryptographic techniques is necessary. Currently, various methods and algorithms can be used to protect data from various types of attacks, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.
One commonly used algorithm is MD5 (Message Digest 5), a message summarization algorithm developed by Ron Rivest. MD5 is an extension of a series of previous message summarization algorithms, also created by Rivest, and is the next generation of the original MD (Message Digest) algorithm.
