Abstract

This study aims to analyze the character education content found in Elementary School (SD) Science textbooks within the Independent Curriculum. Character education is an essential aspect of the curriculum, aiming to shape students' personalities to be individuals of integrity, responsibility, and good social conduct. This research employs a content analysis method to identify the character values embedded in Science textbooks. Data were collected by examining relevant chapters from the textbook and comparing them with expected character indicators, such as honesty, responsibility, cooperation, and environmental care. The results indicate that SD Science textbooks within the Independent Curriculum contain various character education values, particularly in the context of science learning, which teaches responsibility towards the environment, a high level of curiosity, and the ability to work cooperatively in scientific experiments. However, certain character values, such as honesty and democratic attitudes, still need to be strengthened in the materials and learning activities. These findings are expected to provide input for the development of more comprehensive textbooks that support character formation in students.
