LITERATURE STUDY: ANALYSIS OF THE USE OF INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA IN HIGHER EDUCATION
Keywords:

The digital transformation of higher education has necessitated the adoption of more innovative and interactive learning strategies. One emerging approach is the use of interactive multimedia, which has been recognized for its potential to enhance learning outcomes in university settings. However, the implementation of such technology remains inconsistent and underexamined through systematic analysis in the context of higher education. This study aims to systematically review the literature on the use of interactive multimedia in universities, focusing on the types of media employed, pedagogical approaches, learning outcomes, and implementation challenges. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology based on the PRISMA protocol, analyzing 30 peer-reviewed articles published between 2018 and 2024, sourced from reputable national and international databases. Findings reveal that interactive multimedia—such as interactive videos, digital simulations, augmented reality, and educational games—positively impact students' cognitive and affective domains, as well as their 21st-century skills. Nevertheless, successful implementation is highly dependent on technological infrastructure, lecturers’ digital competencies, and supportive institutional policies. This study contributes significantly to the theoretical advancement of digital learning and offers practical guidance for educators and policymakers to strategically integrate technology into higher education.
